Who Swims?, by Edwina Lewis & Ant Parker

Who Swims?

By Edwina Lewis & Ant Parker

Who Swims? is a charming pop-up book with rhyming words about animals that swim.  As you turn each page of the book, a new animal pops up out of the water, with flapping fins, tails, arms, or legs.  The book is intended primarily for small children whose senses are stimulated by the bright colors and cheerful movement of the animals.  This book is also appropriate for children who are beginning to learn how to read, since it has few words, most of which are short and basic.

The authors include a short phrase for each animal, and the rhyming words from one page to the next keep the story flowing.  The short, rhyming phrases are adequate for reading aloud to young children.  The pop-up pictures make each turn of the page fun, as you wait for the next animal to pop out at you.  Even as children grow older, the appeal of this type of book does not seem to fade.
